Imagine: you get a photo taken of yourself, and in less than a minute a robot sketches it into a perfect portrait and added into a photo mosaic. Sounds like something out of a futuristic movie, but the technology is not just something of the future. It’s here and I got to experience it at Exhibitor Live 2022 – an event that my company, an experiential marketing firm, recently sent me to.
It happens fast. These SketchBots dance across the page, recreating images in seconds, flawlessly producing dozens if not hundreds of robot sketches in a flash. And anyone can do it. Anyone passing through the showroom floor could have their picture taken, and the SketchBot immediately gets to work.
And the coolest part is how it all comes together in the end. Almost like the pieces to a puzzle, each individual sketch fits together into a beautiful mosaic. You see the art come to life in real time as one by one, each person takes their newly drawn sketch to the mosaic board.
With all images in place you see the unified whole. I took a step back to take in a single, large, and stunning mosaic, composed of the faces of all the people who stopped by for a photo.
